Seems like I have been behind the news when it comes to book news here in my country.

This morning when I was waiting for my friend at the bookstore (always...), I was browsing the shelves when I happen to walk down the Tagalog romance books aisle and lookie here, look what I found:

They're Filipino editions of their original counterparts. I don't why but I laughed when I saw these translated books. There is nothing wrong with translating books to Filipino but it seems silly. I'm sorry but when I saw the synopsis of Twilight:

Malungkot na bayan... is the literal translation of a sad town which I don't think is what it's really meant. This reminds me of a game my friends played... translating English movie titles to Filipino and the results were hilarious.

When I opened one of the translated books, the story just started at page one. There were no preliminary pages at all - you know: title page, table of contents, disclaimer, foreword. *shrugs*

Eh, I don't know. As I said, it just seems silly.
