Armchair BEA 2013: Children's/Young Adult Literature

It's second to the last day of our virtual convention and I've met quite a lot of people, chatted with them at the Twitter party and learned more about blogging and books! 

Our final genre focuses on the younger crowd: children's picture books and young adult literature and everything in between. What are the top 5 (or more) books that every child should have on his shelf? If you are an adult who reads YA, why do you keep going back for more? If you are not a reader of these books, think back to your childhood and share your favorites from your younger years.

I've read a lot of children's books when I was a child. Well, more like read to me first then either my grandmother or my mother would then teach me to read them. As most children, my first books were fairytales and some classic children's novels. They were a good source for make-believe adventures with my playmates and also a good foundation for a lifelong relationship with books. Here are my top six books that every child should have on his/her shelf:
