Dogs are heaven sent.
Oh gosh, it was so long ago! I couldn't exactly pinpoint when I started reading by myself (or what book specifically) without anyone in my family reading to me. Let me see... that was around nursery or kindergarten. I had this big book of two-three paragraph stories that I absolutely loved. Just little stories. Then, the fairy tales, of course, specifically Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast.
I think the idea of little stories to get kids into reading -- instead of big books asap -- is a wonderful way for them to start. This is mine: http://editingeverything.com/blog/2015/07/03/follow-and-feature-friday-9-your-very-first-book/ I've followed on Bloglovin' and instagram, because I'm always love bookgrams!
When you said fairy tales it made me think of the book I had when I was a kid. It had the most TERRIFYING pictures in it. It used to look at them just to freak myself out. New follower! My F&F Post
I love all the fairy tales! My dad had a set of books that he inherited. Each book had a set of stories and one was all the old fairy tales. I loved them :D
I used to love fairy tales when I was little too! I mainly remember reading Dr. Seuss when I was little though. I'm an old follower. :) Krystianna @ Downright Dystopian
My mom read me countless fairy-tales, disney, winnie-the-pooh, and Dr. Suess books. The first books that I remember reading on my own were probably Nancy Drew, The Babysitters' Club, and Scooby-Doo books.
