Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme (mostly) about books and reading.

The BTT question of the week is:
A while ago, I interviewed my readers for a change, and my final question was, “What question have I NOT asked at BTT that you’d love me to ask?” I got some great responses and will be picking out some of the questions from time to time to ask the rest of you. Like now.

Pepca asksHave you every written any fan-fiction? If yes, why and for which book(s)? If no, would you like to and for which books(s)?

For that matter, do you ever READ fan-fiction??
---
*howling laughter* I'm sorry... *gasps* It's just that it reminds me of my pathetic attempts at writing the ideas that are swirling around in my mind. *snorts* Because, believe it or not, thoughts (often stories) are next to impossible to put into words exactly like you want them to. For me.

Yes, I've written fan-fiction. Just one. And it's not for a book it's for the anime/manga Ayashi no Ceres. If you like you could see it here. It was written when I was 14 years old, at the height of my Ayashi no Ceres fangirling. I tried to write beyond that scene and it never came to fruition because ideas were continually morphing, changing until it became a story not even remotely connected to Ayashi no Ceres anymore.

Of course, I also have ideas of fanon stories for other books but they remain thoughts and ideas and they continually unfold inside my mind while I wonder if I would ever write them. Let's see... there's one for Harry Potter - him having a twin sister and falling in love with Cedric Diggory who will not die; then, there's one for Chronicles of Narnia (weaving elements from the book and the movie, two words: Ben Barnes) - traversing Prince Caspian to the Voyage of the Dawn Treader and everything in between; and, one for Inuyasha, where a girl drops in from another world and not another time and is concentrated on Inuyasha's brother, Sesshoumaru.

Well, I think that is it then. The other two ideas in my head are canon.

Have I ever read fanfiction?

Ladies and gents, I do. I hunt for them. It's one way to get more material to read from that story and let out your frustrations when you didn't like something in the original book/anime/manga - particularly the love story.

  1. Great answer. Fan fiction is brilliant for giving do-overs for certain parts of books.

My BTT post is here if you'd like a look :)
