THE BOOK(S) I COMMITTED TO READ:

I finally finished reading them. Yay! Actually, I finished Shattered first (review here) and read the second book in the Dream Realms trilogy before I finished Juliet Immortal. I liked the two books well enough though at first I had Twilight alert, Twilight alert ringing in my head in the first two chapters of Shattered but it got better and the alarms went down. But I got another set of ringing bells in Destined, the second book - Blue Bloods and the Mortal Instruments. I haven't read the third book yet since I only have the first part and still yet to have Ascension but despite the bells, I would read the conclusion because I want to know what happened.

Juliet Immortal... I was giggling all night last night because of lines like this: “And I know you make me think the hell I’ve been through was worth it … if it’s what made me recognize heaven when it jumped into my car.” I was afraid I was going to get another WTF ending but... I think I'll let everything out in my review. I'm still thinking about the best way to write about my feelings with regards to the story. I also plan on making a diagram since I was cross-referencing who who-was-who and who-did-what. Anyway, I give it a four out of five apples.

THE BOOK I COMMIT TO READ THIS WEEK:

Half-Blood
first book in the Covenant series
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
in my pile since: September 2011

Synopsis from Goodreads:

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

Hurray for Random.org! Oh dear, this is becoming a habit.

  1. I so glad you enjoyed Juliet Immortal. I did, and I had the same thoughts about the who-is-who thing! but then it was easy to know.
Glad you'll read Half blood, I think I'll do in the next days.

  2. I love knowing I am not the only one who has bells literally go off in my head when a book seems a little too close to another book. :)

  3. Congrats on finishing your books! :) So Juliet Immortal requires a diagram? Geez. Good luck with Half-Blood. I enjoyed it, but you're probably going to get "Vampire Academy Alert" alarm bells going off, the whole way through. Just warning you. :)

  5. Twilight alert! That cracked me up. I think I'm going to stay away from that one... But I'm super glad to hear you liked Juliet Immortal! Definitely looking forward to your review. I think I'll end up adding it to my TBR pile...

I hope you'll like Half-blood. It's one of those books I've seen around again and again, and yet I don't really know much about. Will wait eagerly for your opinion!

    Happy reading,

  6. Hi! I've never read Shattered before, but it sounds like a really good book. I read Juliet Immortal, too, and I liked it, but I just despised the ending. I wanted to throw the book, but then I remembered it was on my Kindle and my parents would be really mad if I did. And I really want to read Half-Blood soon. I'll have to check my library.

New follower, by the way, and I'm your 101st! Congratulations on getting 100!
