Book Beginnings is hosted by Rose City Reader. Share the first sentence (or so) of the book you are reading, along with your initial thoughts about the sentence, impressions of the book, or anything else the opener inspires.

The Friday 56 is hosted by Freda's Voice. Grab a book, any book, and turn to page 56. Find a sentence that grabs you and post it either on your blog or on Instagram tagged with #Friday56.
This week I'm sharing quotes from Bound by Kirsten Weiss.
2%, Chapter 1

Once upon a time, in the foothills of granite mountains, when the sun hadn't yet risen in the east, there were three sisters. And one, me had been stuck at the hospital all night.
56%, Chapter 21

The police officer was silent on the drive. Silent as he walked up the steps of the three-story building, through the atrium. Silent as he turned left, into a long corridor lined with metal doors.
You'd think you were reading a fairy tale when the opening of the story is Once upon a time... Ohh no! This is a mystery book - with witches.
Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Billy at Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop's purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.
This week's prompt is:
Have you ever thought about taking a break from blogging/Booktubing (if you're a Booktuber)? If you have, how long was the break and what did you learn from it?

Yes! Almost nine years of blogging and there are large bouts of time where I simply didn't care about the blog. The longest was about a month and a half. Burnout!

When I obsess over the number of comments, readers, and subscribers, it becomes tedious at times especially if you're under pressure to keep up with the community and be "significant". And when I see that the numbers are down, I question whether it's still worth keeping.

But then I remember that, although a fourth of my reason to start a book blog was to keep up, I am in no way obliged to do that. I am simply sharing my thoughts and my words about my love of books.

  7. The first quote doesn't quite make sense. Is it missing a comma before the word ME? My Friday quotes come from Life on Mars
