A secret love affair.• How did The Boyfriend Bracket come about? Your inspiration?
My editor called me one night and we started brainstorming what my next book would be. I had just finished writing The Dodge Cove trilogy, so we were looking for the next thing. The second she suggested the brother’s best friend trope, I knew right away what the book would be about. The story pretty much wrote itself after that.• How is Stella different from the other lead characters in your previous books?
Stella is on a mission. All she wants is to get into fashion school for college. That means getting through senior year. For her, that means having someone to escort her to all the dances because as Franklin says, “Prom photos are forever.”• Who is the 'ideal' boyfriend?
The ideal boyfriend is someone who can be a partner. Someone who can support you. Someone you can trust. Someone you can count on when the going gets tough. Someone you can go out with yet stay home when it’s raining and all you want is to cuddle. William Montgomery is all of these things and more.• How have things changed since Taste? Your writing process?
Wow! Taste takes me back. Definitely, I have a better grasp of my craft. I love editing more now than ever. I know what I need to do the second that editorial letter pops into my inbox.• What is next for you?
I’m always working on something new. Even if I’m not in front of my laptop, I’m imagining how a new story will play out or how characters will react to a certain situation. There is always a new story that begs to be written.
