Alice in Zombieland
White Rabbit Chronicles #1
Gena Showalter
Genre: YA Paranormal
She won’t rest until she’s sent every walking corpse back to its grave. Forever.

Had anyone told Alice Bell that her entire life would change course between one heartbeat and the next, she would have laughed. From blissful to tragic, innocent to ruined? Please. But that’s all it took. One heartbeat. A blink, a breath, a second, and everything she knew and loved was gone.

Her father was right. The monsters are real….

To avenge her family, Ali must learn to fight the undead. To survive, she must learn to trust the baddest of the bad boys, Cole Holland. But Cole has secrets of his own, and if Ali isn’t careful, those secrets might just prove to be more dangerous than the zombies….

I wish I could go back and do a thousand things differently.
I'd tell my sister no.
I'd never beg my mother to talk to my dad.
I'd zip my lips and swallow those hateful words.
Or, barring all of that, I'd hug my sister, my mom and my dad one last time.
I'd tell them I love them.
I wish... Yeah, I wish.
I've noticed that when I smile and giggle after reading a book, then I know that I loved it. Just as I did when I finished Alice in Zombieland.

I've put off reading this book because I was, well, put off, with the title and the cover. They do mislead you. Then, I thought that it was a retelling of Alice in Wonderland, only with the same treatment as with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Only when I took a peek (I don't read that much reviews because I'm wary of my opinion being influenced when I read and review in turn) at some reviews, assuring me that it wasn'ta retelling, did I relent and delved in.

When I finished, I didn't realize it was already late at night and I've yet to turn on the stove to cook my dinner. Yes, it was that good, I forgot to eat.

P.S.
Please, please don't let me read that Cole would turn into a zombie; because that would so cliche.

Through the Zombie Glass
White Rabbit Chronicles #2

Zombies stalk the night. Forget blood and brains. These monsters hunger for human souls. Sadly, they've got mine...

Alice Bell has lost so much. Family. Friends. A home. She thought she had nothing else to give. She was wrong.

After a new zombie attack, strange things begin to happen to her. Mirrors come to life, and the whispers of the dead assault her ears. But the worst? A terrible darkness blooms inside her, urging her to do very wicked things.

She's never needed her team of zombie slayers more, but ultra bad-boy Cole Holland, the leader and her boyfriend, suddenly withdraws from her...from everyone. Now, with her best friend Kat at her side, Ali must kill the zombies, uncover Cole's secret and learn to fight the darkness.

But the clock is ticking...and if she fails at a single task, they're all doomed.
Yes, that's right! A four! I would've made it a solid five if it wasn't for the emotional rollercoaster this book made me ride.

I was wrong, you see. It wasn't Cole going to go zombie but Ali. Ali! That aside, the thing that got me on emotional highs and lows was Cole breaking up with Ali. I was so mad! I wanted him to suffer. I don't care if came crawling back on his knees. Literally! Suffer, douche purse! Suffer!

*deep breath*

But I'm glad that they worked it out and gone back to being hormonal, they couldn't get their hands off each other. They worked through their issues and they grew up, in their relationship, with themselves. I really liked the development of their characters.

As usual, I was blown away by the story. The intensity of things, the humor (gosh, I love Kat), the boys (their loyalty and honor) and just everything.

The Queen of Zombie Hearts
White Rabbit Chronicles #3

I have a plan.

We'll either destroy them for good, or they'll destroy us.

Either way, only one of us is walking away.

In the stunning conclusion to the wildly popular White Rabbit Chronicles, Alice "Ali" Bell thinks the worst is behind her. She's ready to take the next step with boyfriend Cole Holland, the leader of the zombie slayers…until Anima Industries, the agency controlling the zombies, launches a sneak attack, killing four of her friends. It's then she realizes that humans can be more dangerous than monsters…and the worst has only begun.

As the surviving slayers prepare for war, Ali discovers she, too, can control the zombies…and she isn't the girl she thought she was. She's connected to the woman responsible for killing—and turning—Cole's mother. How can their relationship endure? As secrets come to light, and more slayers are taken or killed, Ali will fight harder than ever to bring down Anima—even sacrificing her own life for those she loves.
Melting me.

Destroying me.

Killing me.

The Queen of Zombie Hearts was a fantastic conclusion to the White Rabbit Chronicles. And left me wanting for more. I know, I know. This third book is the end and I could probably never get an epilogue of what happens after; even though I read Cole's note (with Ali butting in) at the end, giving a glimpse of a possible future, but a girl can hope. An epilogue is plausible but not impossible. I mean, there's still Frosty and... well, spoilers.

What I loved about The White Rabbit Chronicles is that it didn't linger too much and just got on with the action, going from point A to point B in a fast, well-paced and steady manner. Even if it shredded my heart in the process (I still haven't forgiven Cole for what he did in the second book. I still liked it that he patched things up with Ali) and took me on a rollercoaster ride. And I don't like rollercoasters.

I'm glad that I picked this series to read. I was hesitant at first, like I said in my thoughts of Alice in Zombieland, but I'm still thrilled that I did. I would go on and spill everything out but I should back off before I do and let you find out for yourself. This series is totally cake and I recommend it to everyone.

  1. I had to not read your review for number #3 just because I'm cautious. XD But I DO so want to read this series! I actually borrowed book #1 from the library at one point but it had to go back (sadly) unread. And then a few people told me the series rather sucked soooo....I was just never got it back out again. I SHOULD. Alice in Wonderland is my favourite classic of ever and I do adore zombies. ;-)
