Top Ten – YA Fantasy Books
by Karen Wrighton
Asking me what are my favourite YA fantasy Novels is a bit like asking me which is my favourite child! They all have their good and their bad points, but putting them in any order is a really difficult thing to do and also what is my favourite book at one moment in time, will not necessarily be my favourite book at another.
There are some consistent winners though. Some books I have read and then re-read and then read again. The Harry Potter series springs to mind, and for that reason I have counted that as two choices as I love all of the books but I want the list to include more than one Author! So Here it goes.
Well there you have it my Top Ten YA Fantasy Book picks. I wonder if any of them have influenced my writing? I would guess that undoubtedly they have, everything that we read must influence how we write in some, hopefully subtle way. When you read Ascension of the Whyte, maybe you will be able to discover which of them have had the most influence, then please feel free to drop me a line and tell me what you think. Have they been a good influence or not?
"Rose regarded them all, her eyes swept the crowd taking in every detail; every child's tiny fist, every open sore, each hollow of every emaciated body and the hopelesss, helpless shadows that clouded every pair of eyes."
Ascension of the Whyte
Sara Carson did not believe in life after death, Heaven, Hell or even reincarnation. However, what she didn't know was that some of us are special. For some of us, death is just the beginning of our next great adventure. Sara Carson was one of those special people, and her most incredible journey did not begin, until the day she died.
A magical début novel that will leave you breathless.
