Welcome to the TBR Intervention Challenge!
TBR Intervention is a weekly challenge hosted by  April @ Books4Juliet, Dani @ Refracted Light and Ayanami @ Whatever You Can Still Betray

For information on why and how it was started and information on how to participate, please visit the TBRIC page.

THE BOOK I COMMITTED TO READ:

Last week, I committed to read Ashes by Ilsa J. Bick. I'm halfway through it. In Tuesday, I stopped reading it for the night figuring I would read the rest of it the next night since I can't fathom reading it during daytime since the silence of the night complements the atmosphere needed to read the story. The gore! Jeez! I also want to find out what caused the electromagnetic pulse in the first place. The characters have been exchanging theories but I'm still not satisfied with the answer. I guess I'll have to find out later.

I also finished Insurgent last Monday. I gave myself a reprieve on Sunday after the emotional upheaval last Saturday and to give the people in the house a chance to get their bearings after all my squeals that managed to split their eardrums. In Insurgent, I want to bang Tris and Four's heads together. They were just so... well, the actions that they decided to do even if they're stupid to do so. Recklessness. And why can't they just talk with each other without blowing in each other's face? Still, I give Insurgent a four out of five apples. I guess I'll just lump Insurgent and Divergent together in a review.

Finally, I've read Shattered Souls which talks about a ghost-whisperer agency that employs Speakers and Protectors. Simple. Typical. It lumps together reincarnation, supernatural powers, romance, ghosts and paranormal events. Need I say more?

THE BOOK I COMMIT TO READ:
I'm going to knock off one of the many sequels that I would love to read. There's just so many of them. I gave five out of five apples to Immortal Beloved - which I read last 2010. So, you know, I forgot most of the story. Yeah, it sucks. But, I am going to skim through Immortal Beloved again to refresh my memory. If reading Darkness Falls by Cate Tiernan won't cut it for me, I'm going to read my first steampunk of the year: Supernatural Devices by Kailin Gow.

  1. I just recently reviewed Insurgent--I can't wait to see what you thought of it. I cannot wait until Fall 2013 when the next one is coming out!

  2. Hmmm... Ashes sounds dark and interesting. Perhaps I need to add it to my TBR. I still need to read Insurgent, and you got me very curious about why you want to bang their heads together.

I don't know if Darkness Falls will cut it for you, but that cover is simply lovely. LOVING the design A LOT. I'm curious about Kailin Gow. My only experience with her books was getting a Kindle sample of one of her books, and I just couldn't make myself finish the sample. But she has tons of books and I feel like I keep running across her name, so it has me curious and wondering if I should give her another chance.

    Good luck this week! :)

  3. I'm dying to read Shattered souls. I love the cover and the summary! I want to read Ashes, too. I even have an ARC of the second book.
I have Darkness Fall, but haven't try it. Hope you enjoy it. I'll be looking forward to what you think.
    Happy reading!!

  4. Supernatural Devices sounds awesome. I'm trying to read more steampunk these days, but I somehow always end up reading the good old paranormal *laughs+ Anyway, I'm really glad to hear that your books for last week turned out so well, and I hope the upcoming week will be just as good!

    Happy reading!

  5. Those are all awesome books! I really want to read every single one of them (the first three) (: I haven't heard of Darkness Falls and Supernatural devices before though. I might have to check them out.
