THE BOOK I COMMITTED TO READ:

Dead Beautiful
by Yvonne Woon
in my pile since January 2011

Ha! I finished Dead Beautiful. Yay! See my review here. I liked it and I'd read the sequel, Life Eternal.

And I also managed to read Spirit's Princess which is a review book. I'm feeling guilty actually since I managed to read this book which I just received last week when I have other books that I received some... time ago that I haven't read yet. Why is it?

THE BOOK I COMMIT TO READ THIS WEEK

Immortal
by Gillian Shields
in my pile since March 2011

Synopsis from Goodreads:

Wyldcliffe Abbey School for Young Ladies, housed in a Gothic mansion on the bleak northern moors, is elite, expensive, and unwelcoming. When Evie Johnson is torn away from her home by the sea to become the newest scholarship student, she is more isolated than she could have dreamed. Strict teachers, snobbish students, and the oppressive atmosphere of Wyldcliffe leave Evie drowning in loneliness.

Evie’s only lifeline is Sebastian, a rebellious, mocking, dangerously attractive young man she meets by chance. As Evie’s feelings for Sebastian grow with each secret meeting, she starts to fear that he is hiding something about his past. And she is haunted by glimpses of a strange, ghostly girl—a girl who is so eerily like Evie, she could be a sister. Evie is slowly drawn into a tangled web of past and present that she cannot control. And as the extraordinary, elemental forces of Wyldcliffe rise up like the mighty sea, Evie is faced with an astounding truth about Sebastian, and her own incredible fate.

From the realm of the undead immortal to the realm of the alive immortal - I think. LOL.

  1. It's funny because I was cataloging the books I own earlier this week and I have Immortals...I just don't remember reading it. Is that bad? Maybe I should.

    I hope you enjoy it!

    1. That happens to me all of the time! And it gets worse when I put in two requests at the library for the same book. :)

  3. Glad you enjoyed Dead Beautiful! :) and I know what you mean about the review books. Sometimes you just have to read what you're in the mood for. I tell myself I'm giving the book its fairest chance that way.

Hope you enjoy Immortal. It's got a cool dark, gothic Wuthering Heights feel to it. Not my favorite book ever, but I certainly enjoyed it :)

    Good luck this week!
