THE BOOK I COMMITTED TO READ:

I am still not finished reading Chime. It does not really capture me as such and I have half a mind to not finish it. But, I've started so many books and not finishing them that the books could cry. So, I'll trudge on.

I did finish Bourne, an e-novella from the River of Time series. I also found out that there would be a fourth book in that series when I thought it was only supposed to be three books. But I'd get my wish of knowing what happened after (the frustration I mentioned in my review). Yet, I fear the story would be dragged out.

THE BOOK I COMMIT TO READ THIS WEEK:
Dead Beautiful
by Yvonne Woon
in my pile since January 2011

Synopsis from Goodreads:
On the morning of her sixteenth birthday, Renée Winters was still an ordinary girl. She spent her summers at the beach, had the perfect best friend, and had just started dating the cutest guy at school. No one she'd ever known had died. But all that changes when she finds her parents dead in the Redwood Forest, in what appears to be a strange double murder.

After the funeral Renée’s wealthy grandfather sends her to Gottfried Academy, a remote and mysterious boarding school in Maine, where she finds herself studying subjects like Philosophy, Latin, and the “Crude Sciences.”

It’s there that she meets Dante Berlin, a handsome and elusive boy to whom she feels inexplicably drawn. As they grow closer, unexplainable things begin to happen, but Renée can’t stop herself from falling in love. It’s only when she discovers a dark tragedy in Gottfried’s past that she begins to wonder if the Academy is everything it seems.

Little does she know, Dante is the one hiding a dangerous secret, one that has him fearing for her life.

Dead Beautiful is both a compelling romance and thought-provoking read, bringing shocking new meaning to life, death, love, and the nature of the soul.
LOL. This is a whole year old already, I forgot about it. But I thought it's high time I read this. Although, I  might squeeze in Goddess Interrupted or Spirit's Princess to put out my reviews in time.

  1. I'm sorry that Chime isn't grabbing your attention. And yay, for getting your wish about finding out more in the River of Time series... but I do understand what you mean about your fear that the story is being dragged on needlessly. Still, I really wanna read that series.

Dead Beautiful. I really enjoyed that book, and am looking forward to reading the recently released sequel Life Eternal. I thought the story was rather creepy and rather original, so I'm interested as to what your take on it will be :) Good luck this week!

  3. I've started Dead Beautiful months ago but after a few pages I gave up. But just yesterday, I saw it again and plan to give it another try... maybe soon. =)

Good luck with the book. I hope you'll enjoy your TBR book this time.
