Booking Through Thursday (3) - Cheating

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme (mostly) about books and reading.
---
The BTT question of the week is:

Do you cheat and peek at the ends of books? (Come on, be honest.)
---
*Laughs out loud* Yes! Sometimes. (*Beans shouts: "LIAR!"*) Really, I promise. I only peek at the end of the book - the last chapter -  if I am very desperate to know if the hero and heroine will end up together - which happens in most romance books and some YA books that I read for "light" reading - then I would just go on a speed-reading frenzy. With some books, however, I'd just peek at the last two pages and I would never figure out what will happen. This was what I did when I was reading the Iron Queen, the third book in the Iron Fey series, by Julie Kagawa.

The reason I do this is because I don't want to be disappointed by the ending. I've been so frustrated with some books that I read since the couple did not end up together. You see, I am a romantic and I believe (and want) my happily-ever-afters.

Of course, as I became a "mature" reader, I would accept the less-than-happy endings since it was really the "right" ending for those particular stories.... But, those acceptances rarely happened *laughs out loud again*

However, I also do try to restrain myself from reading the end if I really like the story and would want to read the story as it unfurls before my eyes. I also don't read the endings of mystery and thriller books - really spoils the fun.

  1. I never peek at the endings I think it would spoil and surprise endings that come along once in awhile.

Thanks for the visit to my BTT today.
